Jamie's Meat Inn named Sudbury Business of the Year as local businesses celebrate success at TheBestOf awards
Sudbury businesses have stepped up to receive awards for receiving the most public approval.
A wide range of businesses won acclaim for their products and services, both locally and nationally, in a competition run by the business website, thebestof Sudbury.
The annual competition is based on the number of verified reviews given by customers, from February 2019 until January 2020, on thebestof websites in towns and cities throughout the UK.
Butcher Jamie’s Meat Inn won the accolade of Business of the Year in Sudbury for 2020, after receiving the most reviews, while web designer Polyspiral finished in second place and sales coaching firm Business Growth Landscaper came third.
Jamie Towells, from Jamie’s Meat Inn, said: “We really value your custom and are thrilled that so many took the time to write a review about the business.
“We look forward to providing locally sourced, quality meat to Sudbury and the nearby villages.”
All three businesses, as well as the Lavenham-based children’s clothes retailer Pickles and Lillies, also performed well on the national level, fighting off competition from businesses across the country to scoop the top awards in their categories.
Woodpeckers Nursery in Melford Road also placed third nationally in the nursery school category.
Penny Wilby, owner of thebestof Sudbury, said: “Every year, there’s always lots of support for local businesses and they get lots of great reviews.
“High streets generally are going through interesting time at the moment, but I do feel that Sudbury’s shops and businesses are faring well because people appreciate and use what’s on their doorstep.
“We had great support for the town’s Christmas shop window display competition in Sudbury, and 800 people took part in the vote for a winner.
“If Market Hill get pedestrianised, and once St Peter’s and Gainsborough’s House are regenerated, I do believe it will make a big difference to our town.”
