Pot Kiln Primary School in Great Cornard explores importance of respect at special assembly

Youngsters explored the topic of mutual respect during an insightful school assembly last week.

As part of its core values, students at Pot Kiln Primary School in Great Cornard discussed the importance of respect, while expressing their feelings with deputy headteacher Fiona Lock.

Pupils were asked to ponder the question: 'How can you respect the feelings of others if you do not respect your own feelings?'

Highlighting the poignancy of the weekly sessions, Mrs Lock said: “Our topic is ‘I connect’ based on Alfred Adhler’s four Cs and this was about connecting with our own feelings, too.

“We have a weekly philosophy assembly that helps children to think outside of the box and develop reasoning skills.

“It always ends with the statement I wonder... and the children are invited to add their opinions and reasoning on our philosophy board.”
