Good results celebrated by A level students in Sudbury, Great Cornard and Hedingham
Students in Sudbury and the surrounding area have been celebrating this year’s set of A-level results.
At the Ormiston Sudbury Academy there was a 100 per cent overall pass rate from students with 82 per cent achieving A* to C.
Most students achieved their first choice university and students have also been accepted at Rose Bruford Academy, East 15, Central School of Speech and Drama, Midland Academy of Drama and Dance as well as Trinity Labon.
Principal Caroline Wilson said: “We continue to deliver a broad curriculum which allows our students to flourish and to be the best that they can be. I am proud to be principal at Ormiston Sudbury Academy and of our achievements.”
There were celebrations also for students at Thomas Gainsborough Academy in Great Cornard.
Top performers Rachel Miller, Luke Williams, Callum Fuller, Jordan Higgins, Adam Faiers and Angus Marshall received hard earned As and A*s. Adam had also been awarded a £1,500 scholarship for Bournemouth University.
Hedingham School recorded its best ever A-level results this year with 98 per cent of pupils gaining a pass while 44 per cent achieved A* to B grades.
The school had outstanding performances from art students and PE students. Art students achieved 5A*s, 1A and 2Bs between them while PE students achieved 2A*s and 1A.
Particular individual performances came from Orla Crawley-Smart with 1A* and 2As who goes on to Queen Mary University in London while Joseph Ling reads biology at Bath University after achieving A*, A and B grades.
Jade Newton received an A* and 2As and plans to read modern foreign languages at Durham.
Joe Nourse and Oliver Rowe achieved an A*, A and B and are heading off to university.
Headteacher John Panayi said: “We are pleased to achieve our best ever A-level results and having almost half of students achieving A* to B is outstanding.
“The school worked collectively to set high student expectations which again have been reflected in the results. I would like to thank the commitment and hard work demonstrated by all students, staff and parents. I wish all the students a successful future.”
