Men forced their way into the home of a shocked elderly couple near Sudbury and stole cash and cards last night.

Officers were alerted around 6.10pm last night, Tuesday 12 January, after the couple raised the alarm via neighbours in High Street, Cavendish,

The female resident had answered a knock at the front door and three or four men then barged past her and demanded money.

The male resident was pushed into a chair before the offenders carried out a search of the property and stole a quantity of cash and a wallet containing cards before leaving the address.

Neither of the occupants was physically hurt but both have been left shocked by the incident.

The offenders wore coverings partially over their faces, dark clothing and are described as being white and of big build.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around this time yesterday to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen several men in the vicinity or any vehicles that may have been used by the men involved.

Anyone who can help is asked to call West Suffolk CID by dialling Suffolk Police on 101 and quoting crime number 11939/16. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
