Gainsborough's House shuts its information point in Sudbury during coronavirus outbreak
Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury has closed its information point to the public to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
The facility in Gainsborough Street, which was established while work takes place on the New National Centre for Thomas Gainsborough, shut its doors on Thursday.
The new centre will feature a three-storey exhibition and studio space, which is being constructed at the former labour exchange site in Weavers Lane, along with a café overlooking the museum’s 18th century garden.
The team hopes to reopen its information point on May 5 if it is deemed safe to do so, but said it would continue to monitor the government’s guidelines during the outbreak.
Director Mark Bills said: “We are naturally all upset about this closure, but I hope you’ll agree that it is the right thing to do at this time. “I look forward to welcoming you again soon at our information point and in ourredeveloped gallery next year.”
The team said it would continue to work during its normal opening hours where possible.
