Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds fire crews rescue Eddie the horse from Ballingdon Hill hole




A horse is back on all fours after having been found in a tricky situation in Sudbury.

Eddie, 28, was found stuck in a hole between two trees on Ballingdon Hill in the town's Ballingdon Street.

Three fire crews, one from Sudbury and two from Bury St Edmunds, were called to the scene at around 8.45am to help in the animal's rescue.

A vet also attended and sedated the horse to allow firefighters to trim branches off the trees.

Special equipment was then used to lift the horse out of the space and back to safety by 10.20am.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "The vet is staying with the animal until the full effects of the sedation have worn off."
