B1064 at Long Melford 'impassable' as fire crews and police battle flood water
Drivers are being urged to stay away from the B1064 at Long Melford, which has become 'impassable' due to flood water.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said the road was closed at the bottom of Melford Green, between the Bull Hotel and Melford Hall.
Six fire crews from Sudbury, Woodbridge, Long Melford, Clare and Bury St Edmunds were called to the scene at 4.19pm following reports of a vehicle stuck in half a metre of water.
The vehicle and its occupant were pushed to safety.
The fire crews remain at the scene and, according to a Suffolk Fire and Rescue spokesman, are working to protect two properties from being flooded.
Police are also attending and have shut the road. Diversions are also being put in place.
A police spokesman said: "Please keep away from this area for now. Hall Street, High Street and Bull Lane are all unaffected at this time."
The flooding comes as a yellow weather warning for heavy rain is in place throughout the county.
The Met Office has warned of dangerous driving conditions and the possibility of flooding and damage to buildings.
