BBC Crimewatch episode about human remains found in River Stour in Sudbury prompts calls to Suffolk Police
A Crimewatch appeal about the discovery of human remains in a town river has prompted 'a number of calls' to police.
In Monday’s episode, the BBC show featured a renewed appeal for information after the remains were found in the River Stour, in Sudbury, in August 2020.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “The re-appeal on Crimewatch on Monday generated a number of calls from the public.
“We will now assess these and act on any relevant and new information where appropriate.
“We continue to be very grateful for the public’s continuing support with the case.”
During the episode of Crimewatch, Detective superintendent Mike Brown spoke about the importance of identifying the victim, believed to be a white adult male of north European descent.
Det Supt Brown said: “This is somebody's family member, somebody's father, son, uncle, and there will be people out there who will be missing them.
"Until we know who this individual is, we really can't bring justice for them or their family."
It is believed the man, who was likely to have been in his late 50s to early 60s at the time of death, died between 2008 and 2012.
