Sudbury Town Council appeals after 101 Dalmatian Talbot Trail post stolen from outside town hall, in Old Market Place
A council has pleaded for the return of a Dalmatian sculpture which was ‘forcibly removed and stolen’ from the front of Sudbury Town Hall.
In a Facebook post, Sudbury Town Council said it had footage of the 101 Dalmatian Talbot Trail post being taken, between 9.21pm and 9.29pm, in Old Market Place, yesterday.
It said its Information Centre, in Gaol Lane, will be open all day for the return of the sculpture of a dog’s head on a red post.
A Suffolk Police spokesperson said a group of three males and two females, believed to be in their mid to late teens, were seen in the area at the time and are believed to have walked off with the sculpture which was a bronze figure, painted black.
An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police, quoting crime reference 37/2964/25.
The 101 Dalmatian post is one of 14 that makes up the Talbot trail around Sudbury.
It was located outside the town hall where Pongo and Perdita stopped for water, while searching for their puppies, in the 101 Dalmatians book - written by Dodie Smith.
