Body of a man in his 80s found in River Stour at Nayland-with-Wissington




Suffolk Police have confirmed that a man in his 80s was found dead in the River Stour yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the river at Nayland-with-Wissington at 4.30pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of a person in the river.

Suffolk Fire Rescue and ambulance crews were also called to the scene, but the man was 'confirmed to be deceased once extracted from the water'.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: "The deceased - a man believed to be in his 80s - has not yet been formally identified, but next of kin have been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but is not believed to be suspicious."
