Appeal after cyclist found dead in Twinstead

Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist died in a road incident at Twinstead.

The rider, a man in his 40s and from Sible Hedingham, is believed to have died from his injuries after apparently losing control of his bike at Lorkin’s Lane on Sunday, August 23.

A member of the public found the cyclist at about 3.40pm and called emergency services. Paramedics and an air ambulance attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed until 9pm while police carried out initial investigations at the scene.

Officers from the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the cyclist at Lorkin’s Lane between 3pm and 3.30pm.

The rider was wearing a cycle helmet, cycling shorts and a blue top. He was riding a road bike with racing handlebars.
