Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare, in Stoke Road, Leavenheath, thanks volunteers and community as it prepares to shut after over 30 years
An animal rescue has thanked its volunteers and community as it prepares to close its doors after more than 30 years.
Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare, based in Stoke Road, Leavenheath, will close to incoming animals on August 31.
It said ongoing organisational problems, alongside its team members’ advancing years and health issues, had placed a ‘heavy burden’ on the charity.
While no more animals will be taken in after the closing date, SESAW will continue to look after those in its care until they are safely relocated.
A statement on its Facebook page said: “A huge debt of gratitude is owed to all past and present volunteers and friends of SESAW, the local community, businesses and the public for their generosity and support, without which the Charity could not have existed.
“Any remaining funds will be redirected to like-minded charities with the same mission.
“This is a duty the trustees take very seriously, in order to honour the donors who have contributed to the success of SESAW over the years.”
Updates will be posted on the SESAW Facebook Page, and it asked well-wishers to refrain from calling in.
