Stowmarket student Jake Andrade reflects on two cancer diagnoses in new self published book
A 20-year-old student who has been diagnosed with cancer twice has self published a book recounting his experiences.
Jake Andrade, 20, from Combs in Stowmarket, was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) when he was 13 and after a five year remission period, his cancer returned at the age of 19.
His book ‘My Leukaemia Fight’ puts the reader in the shoes of a cancer patient and follows Jake’s cancer journey of blood tests, infections and bone marrow transplants while also depicting an adolescent description of hospital care.

After beating cancer for the second time, Jake is now finishing his Politics and History degree at the University of Suffolk in Ipswich and has plans to write more books going into the future.
He is hoping that this first book will provide hope to patients and families going through similar hardships by showing that it is possible to get through it and rebuild a life after cancer.
