First Eastern Counties offer free bus travel to passengers in Stowmarket and Stowupland

Bus passengers in a Suffolk town will be able to travel for free next week, as two new routes are introduced.

First Eastern Counties said the 87 and 87a routes will cover Stowmarket and Stowupland, including the Cedars Park estate and the town centre.

Free travel on both routes will be available to passengers from Monday, April 15, to Saturday, April 20.

The circular routes have been funded by the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, in partnership with Suffolk County Council.

The 87 and 87a will run up to every 30 minutes - Monday to Saturday.

First Eastern Counties hope the new routes will make it easier for residents to get to Stowmarket town centre for shopping, appointments or connecting with bus services to Ipswich.

Other changes, confirmed by Great Eastern Counties, include a revised timetable for the 70, 70A and 71 services.

More information on service changes can be found in the Norfolk and Suffolk section of the First Bus website or on the First Bus app.

New timetables will start from April 14.
