Stowmarket Town complete signing of Aveley's title-winning winger Marlon Agyakwa

Stowmarket Town have bolstered their squad with the signing of Aveley's title-winning winger Marlon Agyakwa.

The 28-year-old's arrival at Greens Meadow was announced by the club last night, ahead of their Isuzu FA Trophy second-round tie at Banbury United this Saturday.

Agyakwa made 27 appearances in all competitions for Aveley last season as part of the squad which won the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division title.

The former Southend United and Canvey Island man then joined Stow's league rivals Brentwood Town on loan last month, making four appearances and scoring three goals.

Agyakwa was not in Brentwood's squad for last weekend's clash against his new club Stowmarket, which saw Tevan Allen's first-half strike earn the Old Gold & Blacks a 1-0 win and stretched their unbeaten run to 14 games.

Stow's newest signing has yet to play in this season's FA Trophy and is likely to be available for this weekend's trip to Vanarama National League North Banbury.

"I saw Marlon play a couple of times last year and he was with Aveley at the start of this season and had a really good pre-season with them," Stow manager Paul Musgrove said.

"I've kept an eye on him. He's had an injury at Aveley and gone to Brentwood and done reasonably well, which highlighted him to me again.

"I asked him if he fancied the switch over and he did. It's two teams in the league that are up there, so you never know, but it was something he wanted to explore and we've got the signing across the line.

"He will strengthen us and it's nice to have a fresh body and extra options. Hopefully he can have the same impact Ollie (Sotoyinbo) had on his debut for us!"
