Stowmarket society cash goes to good causes
The Oddfellows of Stowmarket has presented cheques to charities as part of its 'Friendship Month’.
Mayor of Stowmarket Paul Ekpenyong presented cheques for £300 to Mid Suffolk Axis and £1,650 to Mid Suffolk Voluntary Organisation Forum, on the society’s behalf.
The mayor was then given a cheque for £350 himself by David Randall, Oddfellows branch secretary and Grand Master of the UK society, for his chosen charities.
The cheques are part of £3,800 donated to local charities in recognition of their dedicated services to provide care and wellbeing in the community.
Established in 1810, the Oddfellows is one of the largest and oldest friendly societies in the UK, with more than 310,000 members across 124 branches nationwide.
