See from above as construction on EG ‘On The Move’ service station off A14, between Elmswell and Woolpit near Bury St Edmunds, progresses

Construction is continuing on an A14 service station which is due to open later this year.

EG’s ‘On The Move’ petrol forecourt station off the A14 eastbound at junction 47, between Elmswell and Woolpit, is expected to open toward the end of October.

SuffolkNews reported EG’s project development director Alex Kenwright’s update last week.

Work on the project continues to progress, with what appears to be the petrol station element of the service station already visible.

EG has already confirmed the services will have a Subway, Greggs and Starbucks coffee outlet, while a second drive-through outlet is yet to be confirmed.

It is not known when the proposed second drive-through outlet will be revealed.

The petrol station will offer the complete range of traditional fuels and there will also be a new ultra-fast smart EV charger hub.

The site will have more than 60 parking spaces.

The services will be next to a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency building.

A similar site two junctions back, at Blackthorpe, will host two other fast food outlets which are due to open the same month.

Elmswell and Woolpit’s parish councils objected to the plans for the services before permission was granted on appeal in January.
