Stowmarket High School to reopen tomorrow but problems persist with fixing issues with water supply and heating
A secondary school which has been closed for two days due to no heating or hot water will reopen tomorrow - but problems have persisted with repairs.
Stowmarket High School was shut yesterday and today and said a number of arrangements will be in place tomorrow due to complications with fixing the issues with the water supply.
In a letter to parents, headteacher Lucie Hernandez said due to the heating system not working, students can wear their jackets in class.
Teaching staff will monitor the temperature of their classrooms and heaters will be available on request.
Bottles of hand sanitiser have been purchased and placed in all toilets and general shared spaces to compensate for the lack of hot water.
Throughout the day, the school has employed extra cleaning services to ensure all shared surfaces are thoroughly cleaned.
Ms Hernandez said: “Whilst we understand the inconvenience this has caused; the health and safety of our students is always paramount.
“We would like to thank all of you for your patience during this time, as well as thanking those members of our team who have gone above and beyond to secure a full opening as quickly and safely as possible.
“Over the next week, we will be having many engineers in the building fixing the issues at hand, and if there is further information to be shared, we will contact you in due course.”
