High Road Festival in Great Finborough near Stowmarket raises £15k for Red Gables dementia group




A country and Americana music festival that ‘ticked every box’ has raised thousands for a dementia support group.

High Road Festival took place in Great Finborough and raised £15,000 for the Mid Suffolk Voluntary Organisation Forum for Dementia group which is part of Red Gables in Stowmarket.

The two-day festival on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 saw thousands of visitors attend to watch 19 acts perform across two stages including Jax & Co, Palomino Kings, The-Forget-Me-Nots and The Lightning Club.

Organiser Stephen Basey-Fisher said: “Everyone knows someone affected by dementia and it is great to support a local charity like Red Gables.

“There was such an amazing atmosphere across both days and it really ticked every box for me.

“I’ve always wanted to host my own festival - and all the acts were very professional and played to a very high standard.”

The money raised at the event will enable the dementia charity to continue to support individuals living with dementia.

The festival focused on creating a family fun environment with the Story Tent hosted by children’s book author Michaela Organ and a stable of farm animals including festival mascot, Denzel the Donkey.

The Stowmarket Rickshaw also made an appearance to offer attendees a ride into the heart of the festivities.
