An award-winning chicken farm has put forward plans to introduce a farm shop at its existing premises.

Diaper Poultry Ltd in New Street, Haughley, near Stowmarket, is looking to expand and diversify with a farm shop selling the company’s poultry products.

The building being transformed is currently used for storage and the plans submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council are requesting a change of use to form the farm shop.

The new shop would provide customers with a click and collect option and the front of the building will be clad in black ‘Hardie Plank’ to match the side and rear of the building.

Diaper Poultry Ltd was established in 1911 and is one of the few remaining chicken companies in the UK which has its own farms, factory and distribution.

The chicken company has won awards over the years for its high quality products including the National Quality Chicken Awards in 1998.

The submitted plans state that the conversion can take place without any material harm to highway safety, residential amenity, heritage assets or wildlife interests.

The full plans can be viewed here.

It awaits a decision from Mid Suffolk District Council.
