Person dies after being hit by train on Stowmarket to Norwich

A person has died after being hit by a train.

On Saturday, services between Stowmarket and Norwich were cancelled due to an incident between the two stations.

The British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the line near Swainsthorpe, in Norfolk, at about 11am following reports of a person on the tracks.

A spokesperson for the transport police said: “Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
