Scott Alderton, 20, of Hill Rise, Stowmarket, jailed for 12 weeks after beating and verbally assaulting another person
A man who beat and verbally abused another person has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
Scott Alderton, 20, of Hill Rise, Stowmarket, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and threatening behaviour at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The charges stem from an incident police were called to in Finborough Road at 10.40am on Monday, where it was reported four people were involved in a dispute in which a man in his 20s was assaulted, a police spokesperson said.
The court said Alderton was jailed due to the seriousness of the incident, with a flagrant disregard to people and property.
He was charged with one count of assault by beating, from which the 12 week sentence stems, and one count of using threatening and abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
There was no separate penalty from the threatening words charge.
Alderton was also ordered to pay a £200 victim compensation charge.
A second person was arrested in connection with the incident and was released without further action.
