Hampers of Haughley, based near Stowmarket, handed Small Business Sunday award by former Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis

The owner of a hamper firm based near Stowmarket is celebrating after having a spotlight shone on her business by retail tycoon Theo Paphitis.

Hampers of Haughley was named a winner of the former Dragons’ Den star’s weekly Small Business Sunday (SBS) honour in August 2023.

Owner Stacey Lascelles, who started the business in 2021, was handed the award during its annual event at the International Convention Centre (ICC), in Birmingham, on February 23.

Stacey said: “It's an incredible honour to be presented with this award.

“As a small business, I value the support from Theo and the small business community.”

Stacey said it was vital to support small, local businesses.

“It keeps food miles low, benefits the local economy and – of course – Suffolk has some incredible producers,” she said.

“We work closely with our suppliers to source the finest food and drink for our gift hampers.

“I hope Theo enjoys his."

Since it started in 2010, more than 4,000 small businesses have secured the SBS award.

Each week, Theo selects a group of outstanding small businesses to be featured and promoted to his extensive network of followers.

During the ICC event Susan Bonnar, who runs The British Craft House, was a guest speaker, alongside television presenter Stacey Solomon.

Theo said he was thrilled to welcome new SBS members each week.

It allows him to support small businesses while highlighting their work, he said.

“My vision is that everyone who has ever won a Small Business Sunday award becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings,” Theo added.

“The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen. I wish Hampers of Haughley every success.”
