Five Suffolk cafes with top ratings on Tripadvisor, including locations in Southwold, Stowmarket and Long Melford




As we enter the coat and scarf season, there is nothing better than a warming up with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

However, choosing just one of the many wonderful Suffolk cafes can be tricky – especially, when some go that extra mile to stand out from the crowd and leave their customers delighted.

To make the choice easier, and to avoid any unpleasant surprises, we’ve devised this list of five cafes rated five star on Tripadvisor.

Here are the best ones:

Where: Rectory Hill, East Bergholt, CO7 6TL

Situated in a 400-year old building, Oranges and Lemons is a family-run cafe and gift shop serving breakfast and lunch.

Opened between Tuesday and Saturday, the business offers something for everyone with a selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options as well as something for the little ones.

From an all day full English breakfast to baguettes, salads and homemade fish and chips, the cafe has been hailed this year’s travellers choice on Tripadvisor.

Oranges and Lemons also caters for special occasions, including birthdays and christenings.

To avoid disappointed, booking is advised.

Ninedeli, Southwold

Where: 9 Pinkney's Ln, Southwold IP18 6EW

After opening its doors only three years ago, the cafe has become Southwold’s favourite –ranking as number one on Tripadvisor.

Run by James Scott, the eatery serves locally roasted coffee and a selection of freshly made sandwiches and home baked cakes.

If you fancy a coffee with an extra kick, you can also order your drink with a shot of alcohol –just ask for ‘alcohots’.

Although the cafe closes its doors at 5.45pm, do not be disappointed as takeaway meals are still available until 10pm.

The Long Melford Tea Room, Long Melford

Where: 1 Dudley House, Hall Street, Long Melford, Sudbury, CO10 9JR

Know for its bright red sign and red door, the eatery prides itself on fresh, homemade food at an affordable price.

Located in the heart of Long Melford, the cafe has enjoyed a five star rating on Tripadvisor since opening its doors in 2016.

Customers can enjoy a more traditional menu with a selection of scones, sausage rolls and toasted sandwiches.

Locally produced honey and a large selection of loose leaf teas are also available for takeaway.

Nested in the town’s former bank, the tearoom offers a selection homemade lunches, cakes and scones.

Customers can enjoy an afternoon tea served on a three-tier vintage cake stand with music from the 1930s all the way to the 1950s.

The tearoom is fully licensed for the sale of alcoholic beverages. You can also book the venu for special occasions.

Located in the town centre, the eatery servers freshly made pancakes made with milk and eggs from a local farm.

Opened between Wednesday and Sunday, the menu offers both sweet and savoury pancakes.

Customers can also enjoy vegan, keto and gluten free options.
