Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, near Stowmarket, remains closed after suspected E. coli cases
A Suffolk petting farm forced to close after it was linked to suspected cases of E.coli said it hopes to reopen ‘as soon as possible’.
Last week, The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said it was aware of a small number of possible Shiga Toxin E.coli (STEC) or Cryptosporidium cases linked to Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm.
In a Facebook post published today, the farm, near Stowmarket, said: “Thank you for all your messages of well wishes for the animals and staff.
“We have no further news yet, however we are doing all we can to reopen as soon as possible.”
The UKHSA provided infection prevention and control advice to the farm, after illness was reported amongst staff and visitors.
In a previous Facebook post, the farm, which is home to goats, cattle and pigs, said it had been devastated to learn of four cases of illness in visitors.
It said though the animals on the farm have shown no signs of illness, there had been some staff sickness.
