‘Crocodile’ spotted on A1120 near Stowmarket Tesco after months of flooding
A blow up crocodile has caused a stir on social media after it popped up at a notorious flooding spot.
The crocodile was first seen on a section of the A1120 near Stowmarket’s Tesco earlier this week, in the same area rubber ducks were placed in January.
One of the many to comment on the inflatable was the admin of the Spotted in Stowmarket Facebook page, who shared a picture calling it Crocky McCrocodile.
The left lane of the A1120 has been closed to drivers for more than four months.
Speaking to Suffolk News in January, Stowmarket Town Cllr Colin Lay said he believed the drain next to the road had not been properly maintained, leading to the flooding.
The admin of Spotted in Stowmarket, who does not wish to be named, said: “It’s embarrassing that it’s been left like that for so long.
“Suffolk Highways are very much aware of the issue but still nothing has been done to sort it, that combined with the street lights not working around that area too, it's awful.
“The way residents are making a joke out of it by placing objects in the water, and highways removing them afterwards, just shows the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.”
In a recent update to residents, Suffolk County Council said they now consider the flooding problem on the A1120 to be a high priority issue, however work to sort out the problem will probably not be carried out before 2026.
