Popeyes set to open in Stowmarket as jobs advertised for takeaway expected to be built on land south of Gun Cotton Way

Jobs are being advertised for a new takeaway restaurant in Stowmarket after groundwork was started in the area it is expected to be built.

Popeyes, which serves fried chicken, has begun advertising for management roles in the town.

Groundwork was recently started on land close to existing McDonald’s, Starbucks and Costa drive-thrus, where the takeaway is expected to be built.

Mid Suffolk District Council gave the EG Group permission to build two drive-thru units on the land at Thorney Way, south of Gun Cotton Way, in November 2022.

Starbucks took up one of the units.

If Popeyes does open in Stowmarket, it will be the first of the American chain’s restaurants in Suffolk.

Popeyes has been approached for comment.
