Building work starts in Gun Cotton Way, Stowmarket as Starbucks recruits staff
Starbucks is recruiting in a Suffolk town as building work starts at a location earmarked for two drive-thru restaurants.
In November 2022, Mid Suffolk District Council approved plans for two new business pods on undeveloped land south of Gun Cotton way, in Stowmarket.
Over recent weeks building work has started on the land close to existing McDonald’s and Costa drive-thrus.
Though it is unclear what is being built, Starbucks are currently recruiting for various positions on careers websites.
In its online adverts, Starbucks states its Stowmarket venue will be opening next month however this has not been confirmed by the coffee chain.
A Starbucks spokeswoman said: “We are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks experience to customers in the UK, but at this time we have no updates to share about plans at the Stowmarket site.”
Plans for the drive-thru restaurants were submitted on behalf of the EG Group Ltd.
In 2022, the district council granted planning permission for the two drive-thru units, an electric charging kiosk with circulatory routes, associated car parking, servicing and landscaping.
Last year, the council considered amended plans for the drive-thru units - one of which was expected to be a KFC.
A spokeswoman for KFC confirmed the current building work at the site was not related to the fast food chain.
