Stowmarket charity shop Cancer Research UK set to close

A town centre charity shop has announced it will be closing next week.

Cancer Research UK in Old Fox Yard, Stowmarket will be permanently closed from Saturday, December 3.

A note in the window thanked customers for their continued support and that the nearest store is in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Property owner Matthew Bell said: "Sadly Cancer Research have decided the store is not profitable enough and have decided to close the store.

"We discussed the rent with them to see if it was something we could help with but unfortunately this was not a deciding factor.

"They will be greatly missed from the Old Fox Yard as they have been part of our community for such a long time.

"But the change is also exciting as we look to bring fresh new businesses into the Fox Yard family."
