Leiston fatal stabbing sees woman, 41, arrested in connection after man stabbed in Old School Close
A second person has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in a Suffolk town.
Police arrested a 41-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder this morning in connection with a stabbing in Leiston on Monday.
This follows the arrest of a 29-year-old man from the town, who was arrested near the scene, initially for attempted murder.
Police were alerted by the ambulance service at 8.50pm on October 17, following reports of an assault in Old School Close.
The victim, believed to be a 41-year-old man, was taken to Ipswich Hospital in critical condition where he later died.
A murder inquiry was launched following his death.
The man was subsequently re-arrested on suspicion of murder.
The woman's arrest came after an extension that allowed officers to detain the man for an extra 12 hours.
She was taken to Martlesham Police Station for questioning.
Police applied for a warrant from Ipswich Magistrates' Court which allowed them to detain him for a further 36 hours, which will expire Friday morning.
They want more time to question him for the investigation.
A police spokesperson said they are treating this as an isolated incident, and added the victim and suspects knew each other.
Police scenes remain in place at the scene of the crime.
Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
