Mrs T’s Fish and Chips at Southwold Harbour gives Facebook update to customers announcing potential reopening date in 2024
A popular Suffolk fish and chip shop, which was badly damaged by fire, has said it hopes to reopen early next year.
The owners of Mrs T’s Fish and Chips in Southwold Harbour have told customers on social media that demolition work will start this weekend, ahead of the rebuild.
On Facebook they said they hope to ‘build and bring Mrs T’s back’ by February/March 2024, ready for the next tourist season.
They posted: “The countdown has now begun, and we will be at the harbour this weekend starting on the demolition - if anyone is walking by, make sure you say hello.”
At the end of last month, Mrs T’s Owners George and Christopher Christou, apologised for a lack of updates – stating ‘major issues’ with their insurance company.
Mrs T’s Fish and Chips was badly damaged after a large blaze ripped through Southwold Harbour during the early hours of May 1.
The Sole Bay Fish Co and fishermen’s huts, at Blackshore Quay, were also damaged in the fire.
A gofundme page, set up to help get Mrs T’s back on its feet, has now raised more than £7,000.
