Sinkhole in Bungay Road, Halesworth, has been reported to Suffolk Highways
Suffolk Highways said a huge sinkhole has been made safe after a driver said she is worried it might collapse.
Val Whiting, of Halesworth, said the sinkhole in Bungay Road has become much bigger since the start of the week and the surface is beginning to crack.
She said: “It’s quite concerning that nothing seems to be happening in respect to filling it in.
“It is a very busy road which has only one entrance and exit.
“Now with added heavy goods lorries using it as well to provide building materials for the conversion of Patrick Stead it’s worrying that it might collapse or someone might get injured.”
A Suffolk Highways spokeswoman said: “The sinkhole has been made safe whilst we investigate a suitable repair solution.
“We will arrange for the area to be re-inspected and the traffic management adjusted if necessary.”
A safety barrier around the sinkhole is in place.
