Steve Magnall, the chief executive of Two Magpies, said: “We are incredibly proud to have been named a finalist in these awards.

“Two Magpies Bakery is a family-run business and we invest heavily in our employees with in-house training and active promotion of interdepartmental learning. I am immensely proud of our teams and their achievements.

“What they do at times absolutely staggers me, so it’s brilliant that we are getting this recognition.

“We aim to provide a structured but nurturing environment where team members have the freedom to express their ideas.

“Communication is an active part of the Two Magpies’ philosophy and our managers have monthly catch ups with each team member in their department to discuss their professional development and aspirations within the company, as well as address any potential challenges.”

The chain will fight off competition from two other bakeries for the top spot.

So far, judges have been impressed with the firm’s attention to detail, communication, and ‘ambitions for the future’.

The award winner will be revealed at a dinner at the Royal Lancaster in London on November 7.
