Stunning walking routes in Suffolk are showcased in a new book which aims to make walking more accessible.

Short Walks Made Easy: Suffolk and Essex Coast and Heaths is a self-guided book written for those with little walking experience or limited time.

Written by Dixe Wills and published by Ordnance Survey (OS), the book features 10 leisurely walks ranging from two to five miles across the two counties.

In Suffolk, walkers can explore Southwold’s pier and promenade, the nature reserve at Oulton Broads or the landscapes of Dedham Vale, which inspired painter John Constable.

Nick Giles, managing director for leisure at OS, said the book was also ideal for families who preferred shorter walks over a full day of hiking and for pet owners.

“The book takes the hassle out of planning routes yourself,” said Nick.

“Just follow the instructions and you’re guaranteed a rewarding trip out discovering the beautiful countryside each time you use it.”

The book can be purchased online or at local bookstores, including Waterstones and WHSmith. It is one of 33 self-guided books published by OS.

The book highlights accessible paths and offers multiple ways to follow the routes.

Each walk includes a simplified map, walk profiles, turn-by-turn instructions and route photography.

The 80 pages are also packed with information, including details on public transport, parking, amenities, places to eat and drink and stories behind each walk.
