Soham Town Rangers appoint former Spalding United and Wisbech Town boss Brett Whaley as new manager
Soham Town Rangers have appointed the experienced Brett Whaley as their new manager.
The Greens have been without a boss since May 11 when they announced that they had parted company with Lloyd Groves.
And their search for a replacement has now ended in swift fashion with the arrival of Whaley, who in December of last year took charge of his 700th game in non-league management.
“I’d fully expected to be starting this coming season out of management, but as soon as I spoke to chairman Mark Goldsack I was excited by the opportunity at Soham,” Whaley told the club’s website.
“I’ve been really impressed by the club and their ambitions, and I can’t wait to get started. There’s plenty of work to do but I think we have everything in place to bring some success to the club.”
A club statement added: “Soham Town Rangers Football Club have been speaking to prospective first-team managers and met with some talented people. The club are thrilled that at the end of this process Brett Whaley has accepted the position and assumes control with immediate effect.
“We’d like to thank those we have spoken with, and know that Brett and his new backroom team start today building the squad for a successful 2023/24 season and beyond.”
Whaley was most recently in charge of Spalding United, having also previously managed Wisbech Town, Yaxley and March Town United.
