Tom Jones' Newmarket Nights 2020 show cancelled

The second Newmarket Nights act has been cancelled for this year, with Tom Jones now set to appear at the July Course in 2021.

Today the Jockey Club announced the Welsh singer will no longer be performing at the racecourse on July 24, and have postponed the show to July 23 next year.

Sir Tom, 79, apologised to fans for having to put off his shows this summer because of the government ordered coronavirus lockdown.

"My team have been monitoring the UK government advice on organised gatherings and I now need to take this action to ensure the protection of fans, my crew and everyone who works in support of the shows. It is also important to help ease the pressure on those working on the front line to fight this virus," he said.

"You all know how much I love performing but everybody’s safety must come first. Behind the scenes we’ve been working with local promoters to re-schedule all the shows from this summer as closely as possible."

Tickets for the summer show will be automatically transferred to 2021.

A spokesman from The Jockey Club said if ticket-holders are unable to attend you can transfer tickets to another show or request a refund.
