Man and girl arrested in connection with rape of young woman in Newmarket
A man and a woman has been arrested after a young girl reported she was raped in Newmarket.
The incident occurred within a property in Weston Way in the early hours of Friday June 3, where the victim - a young woman – reported that she was raped.
Officers arrested a 37-year-old man from Newmarket on suspicion of rape and a 17-year-old girl from the Cambridge area on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with this incident, over the weekend of Saturday 4 and Sunday June 5.
They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have both been released on bail until Tuesday September 6 pending further enquires.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a young woman in distress in Weston Way between 6.30am and 7.30am on Friday 3 June.
