Fordham man charged after Bury St Edmunds railway station machete incident

A Fordham man has been charged with possession of a machete at Bury St Edmunds railway station on Thursday.

Twenty-two-year-old Flynn Matthews, of Eldith Avenue, Fordham, was expected in court on Saturday charged with possession of a knife or bladed article, trespassing on a railway, and for obstructing an officer.

Matthews is alleged to have run onto the railway tracks after officers from Suffolk Police asked to search him. Trains were suspended while officers dealt with the incident.

According to police he was found in possession of a machete.

Another man, 18-year-old Aaron Neziri, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of a knife or bladed article.

On Friday Neziri appeared before Ipswich Magistrates' Court, where he was remanded in custody. He is expected back in court on August 2 for sentencing.
