Fire and ambulance service rescue man from flat fire at West Lodge in Stowmarket Road, Needham Market – with fire crews from Ipswich, Stowmarket and Needham Market called to the scene




Firefighters broke down a door to rescue a 51-year-old man from a flat fire in a Suffolk town during the early hours.

An ambulance was also called to the blaze at West Lodge, in Stowmarket Road, Needham Market, at 3.25am.

A spokesperson for the Suffolk Fire and Rescue service said the man rescued from the flat was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke, after being assessed at the scene of the fire. However, he declined transport to hospital.

The Suffolk Fire and Rescue service log said a door enforcer was used to gain entry to the flat and then the fire was brought under control.

Fire crews from Princes Street in Ipswich, Stowmarket and Needham Market all attended the incident and a stop was called at 5.51 am.
