Drivers using the A140 in Suffolk are set to be hit with further delays following the road surface melting last month.
The Mid Suffolk road was shut on June 15 when the melting road surface in Little Stonham was causing unsafe conditions for motorists.
Suffolk Highways has announced further roadworks, including full machine resurfacing and levelling out the current surface, will take place.
Beginning on Monday, the A140 will be shut between 8pm and 5am each night to allow for work to be carried out.
The schedule of the works will be as follows:
- Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 July – the A140 will be closed 20:00-05:00 on both nights with a diversion in place. This will allow for our teams to plane the existing surface levels and lay the asphalt.
- Wednesday 13 – Friday 15 July – the A140 will use 2-way temporary traffic lights between 20:00-5:00. This will allow our teams to adjust gully grates to new levels.
- Saturday 16 July – the A140 road will be closed 20:00-05:00 with a diversion in place. This will allow our teams to install road markings and studs ahead of reopening.
