New Needham Lake play area will open in time for the summer holidays and will include a storytelling area and wheelchair friendly carousel
A new and more inclusive play park is to be built at a Suffolk beauty spot in time for the summer holidays.
Today work will start on an upgrade to the play area next to the Duck and Teapot café at Needham Lake.
An artists impression of plans for the park show sensory totem poles, a storytelling area and tunnels.
Equipment will include a wheelchair-friendly carousel and an inclusive jumper and hammock.
In a social media update Mid Suffolk District Council, which manages Needham Lake, said climbing equipment would remain in place and the natural play area would be updated and moved nearer to the café.
Work is expected to take three to four weeks, however most of the play equipment would still be available throughout this time – excluding the slide.
Fencing will be in place to ensure families are kept safe while the work is ongoing.
