New gym Inspire 24 Fitness set to open in Mildenhall town centre in King Street
A new 24-hour gym in a Suffolk town centre is gearing up to welcome customers after a successful open day.
Inspire Gym will officially launch its second site, called Inspire 24 Fitness, in King Street, Mildenhall, at 7am on Saturday.
The independent business already has a venue in Hampstead Avenue, but decided to take on the second location, formerly Energie Fitness.
Following a popular open day on Monday where people were invited to have a look around the new site, Jack Akehurst, who is the manager and oversees both gyms in the town, said he is looking forward to getting started.
The 37-year-old, of Mildenhall, said: “We’re really excited for this and can’t wait to get started and open up at the weekend.
“It’s been a lot of hard work recently but Monday was really good and we had lots of people we’d never met before which is great.
“This is quite a significant thing for us and for us to be the only gym in the town that is open 24 hours is really handy for a lot of people.
“I think it’ll make a massive difference as that option is there now. So many people have messaged us to say how good it is that we're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Following the sudden closure of the Energie Fitness branch in January, work began on March 18 to transform the venue with new equipment.
Inspire Gym co-owners Dean Ayers, 37, and Louise Bee, 39, both of Mildenhall, were considering moving the gym from Hampstead Avenue, but are delighted after opting to keep their current site and open a second one in the town instead.
Louise said: “The feedback so far has been amazing and the recent work has gone brilliantly to be honest.
“We think it’s great we’ve now got both sites open. It’s a fantastic opportunity and there’s been a real buzz for it which is really nice to see.”
Jack, who has been a manager at Inspire Gym for nearly three years, believes the new venue is a great place for people to come along and get started if they have never been to the gym before.
He said: “It’s a really nice environment and we have such a range of people and ages here.
“It’s completely non judgemental, we’re all local and we encourage people to come down, have a look and ask any questions they might have.
“The gym has this inner city vibe to it even though we’re in Mildenhall, so I think that’s quite cool and we’re just now ready to welcome anyone that wants to give it a go.”
