Mildenhall: New £112,000 pump track taking shape near River Lark

A new £112,000 pump track is now beginning to take shape in a Suffolk town.

The site by West Suffolk Council will be delivered in the south west corner of the Mildenhall Hub, between the River Lark and the 3G pitch.

Work on the 12 week plan is expected to be finished in December, depending on weather conditions.

Three designs were consulted on with local skate park users and at the Phoenix cycle park in Kentford.

The design with the most support was by contractors 414, who have now started work there.

Cllr Ian Shipp, cabinet member for leisure and mayor of Mildenhall High Town Council, said: “The pump track can be used by all ages but the very youngest, and judging by take-up at our new skate park, it is going to be very well used.

“We’ve been looking for an opportunity to replace the old track in Mildenhall Woods, which had to be closed three years ago because of problems. The hub is an ideal location, close to town and next to other sporting and community facilities.

“I’m sure I’m not alone in following the track as it comes out of the ground, with great interest.”
