Motorcyclist still in 'serious condition' after A11 crash near Fiveways Roundabout at Barton Mills which saw road closed for hours
A motorcyclist remains in a serious condition after a crash on the A11 which saw his bike catch fire.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the junction with Herringswell Road just before 9pm on Saturday night following reports of a motorbike blaze on the southbound carriageway.
A passerby who alerted the fire service later found an injured man in a ditch, where he had landed after he was thrown from his bike.
Police closed the road between the A1065 exit at Fiveways Roundabout, Barton Mills, and the B1085 Red Lodge exit. It remained closed for around seven hours and reopened yesterday morning.
Firefighters battled the blaze for an hour, with a stop having been called at 9.55pm.
A Suffolk Fire and Rescue service spokesman said the victim was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
