Rider dies at Mildenhall MX motocross track, West Row, near Bury St Edmunds

A rider has died at a motocross track - the second fatal incident in six months.

Mildenhall MX Ltd said on social media the incident at the site on Cook's Drove, West Row, near Bury St Edmunds, happened yesterday.

The man is understood to have been in his early 40s.

A statement said: “Today we had a fatality at the track. We are still carrying out all necessary procedures with health and safety local authority.

“Our thoughts are with the bereaved family at this time. I have run the track for 24 years and this is second death within six months so we are deeply shocked by it.”

Last September, Rider George Edwards, 17, died while taking part in an event at the track in September.

A spokesman for West Suffolk Council said: “We can confirm that we are investigating an incident at Mildenhall Motocross that has sadly resulted in the death of a motocross rider at the weekend and our thoughts are with their friends and family.”

East of England Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
