Owner of Mildenhall dessert store The Nom Shop left saddened after premises broken into with large metal pole
The owner of a dessert shop in a town centre has been left saddened after his premises was broken into.
Cash and recipes were stolen from The Nom Shop in New Street, Mildenhall, at about 4.30am on January 16.
A Suffolk Police spokesperson said it's believed a large metal pole was used to smash a window to get into the store.
Daniel Norman, 36, opened The Nom Shop in August after originally founding the independent courier service Nom Now in February last year, which covers deliveries in the local area including Lakenheath, Red Lodge, Kentford and more.
He said: “I feel personally attacked as this business is something I have built myself from nothing.
“So much hard work has gone into it and I'm saddened that someone would target just a small shop like mine.
“It's a lot of money to lose for a small business and the person got almost nothing out of it.”
“It’s made me very worried and I'm going to invest in more security.”
Daniel added as a result of the break-in, a window and its frame has been damaged and there has been a total loss of £1,000.
Some stock has also been discarded due to risk of glass fragments in the packaging.
Following the theft, the shop had to close for most of the day to clean the area to make sure there was no glass left over.
The Nom Shop, which sits next to Boots Opticians in Mildenhall, sells a range of sweet treats such as ice cream, milkshakes and waffles.
It is open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm
