New 'super relaxed' hair salon opens on Mildenhall High Street
A new hair salon with a difference has opened in Mildenhall this week.
The Good Part, at Manor Court in the town’s High Street, welcomed customers on Tuesday.
Owner Josh Williams, 29, from Bury St Edmunds, is absolutely delighted with the unveiling and cannot wait to get started.
He said: “I’m super, super excited. It’s great to have so much space.
“I love the idea of a one-to-one service, so it’s a strictly very personal service, with no double booking in between like in generic high street salons.
“I wanted to create a space that was almost like an anti-salon, where you almost feel like your walking into someone’s living room. You can sit down, have a chat and enjoy a cuppa.
“It’s not like I’m moving quickly onto the next person and rushing them out the door because it’s not like that. I want a super relaxed environment that does really really good hair.”
Mr Williams received the keys for the building - formerly Chilterns Estate Agents - at the beginning of July and has been busy preparing the salon after moving from his small studio inside the Barbers Arms in Mildenhall.
“There’s definitely been a lot of stress,” he said.
“Rescheduling clients was really hard because I had to take time out for renovations and needed to put all the ideas together.
“I love the look of things so picking things and putting them all together in the salon has been really stressful too, but now its done I love it and it’s all come together really well.”
The 29-year-old stylist has been working in Mildenhall for a year now and has built up a large clientele with a lot of them becoming his friends, which has enabled him to move to the new location.
Mr Williams did take a five-year break from the industry when he was 19, but had to return to styling after realising how much he loved hair and that he needed to be in the industry.
His partner, Lewis Wilson, 29, who previously worked at Lipstick and Locks in Bury St Edmunds, also now works at The Good Part as a stylist too.
The duo are hoping to keep growing their clientele and would also like to take on one or two people to educate and teach.
