Woman, 24, found guilty of causing death by careless driving after friend killed in A12 Frostenden crash

A 24-year-old woman has been found guilty of causing death by careless driving after a head-on crash in which her friend was killed.

The trial of Chelcie Lavery concluded at Ipswich Crown Court today and saw the 24 year old handed an interim disqualification from driving. She is due to be sentenced on July 5.

It comes after a crash on the A12 at Frostenden in October 2018, which saw the Peugeot 206 Lavery was driving swerve into oncoming traffic on the northbound carriageway.

The Peugeot collided with an Isuzu D-max before leaving the road and landing in a field.

Charlotte Oakes, who was a passenger in Lavery's car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22 year old, from Westleton, was described by her family as a 'much loved member of the local community'.

"She was generous, hard-working and always fun to be around," they said.

"As a family we miss her stories and her laughter. We feel her loss every day and in everything we do."

Lavery, of High Street, Leiston, was charged in July last year following a police investigation.
