It is in response to increased demand for spaces at the home and the wider community in general.

The home manager had stated there is an increasing need for additional care home accommodation to relieve pressure on nearby hospitals, including James Paget, from ‘bed blocking’.

At present, Stradbroke Court has 40 bedrooms and several communal lounge and dining areas.

It employs 45 full time staff and the now approved plans should add three more team members.

Development would also bring the total number of parking spaces at the home to 28.

Construction must now begin within three years.
