Plans for seven-bedroom extension to Stradbroke Court Residential Home, in Green Drive, Lowestoft, approved
Plans to add an extension of seven bedrooms, a communal lounge area and a bathroom to a coastal town care home have been give the green light.
East Suffolk Council approved the proposals for Stradbroke Court Residential Home, in Green Drive, Lowestoft, on Friday.
The development will be a single storey extension to the west side of the property, in its Gunton Wing, with all the new bedrooms being en-suite.
It is in response to increased demand for spaces at the home and the wider community in general.
The home manager had stated there is an increasing need for additional care home accommodation to relieve pressure on nearby hospitals, including James Paget, from ‘bed blocking’.
At present, Stradbroke Court has 40 bedrooms and several communal lounge and dining areas.
It employs 45 full time staff and the now approved plans should add three more team members.
Development would also bring the total number of parking spaces at the home to 28.
Construction must now begin within three years.
