Lowestoft is famous for its sandy beaches, visitor attractions and, of course, for being home to the most easterly point in the country.
We might be biased, but we think this stretch of seaside is a must-visit for your 2023 bucket list, particularly if you've never ventured to this part of the coast before.
Here are some of the best places to stay, eat and visit in Lowestoft this year.
Where to stay in Lowestoft
With 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor, The Hotel Victoria in Kirkley Cliff Road is a favourite for visitors who flock to the coast.
It has 24 en-suite rooms, with digital TVs and free wi-fi for all, as well as 24-hour room service.
One visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: "Couldn’t fault anything, whole experience top notch."
Another favourite, with an average of five stars on the review site, is The Clyffe Hotel Boutique Bed & Breakfast.
Eight of the rooms here are sea-facing and reviewers comment on the tasty breakfast.
Where to eat in Lowestoft
If you're a fan of Indian food, The Lowestoft Tandoori has five stars on Tripadvisor and is rated the best restaurant in the town.
This family-run business in High Street offers traditional dishes and visitors can eat in or take away.
Another five-star favourite is JOJO's Kitchen and Bar, which serves burgers, loaded fries and American-style grilled dishes from its High Street location.
And a special mention needs to go to MarkG seafood restaurant, which has been praised for its 'imaginative' and 'flavoursome' dishes.
What to do in and around Lowestoft
Lowestoft has some wonderful beaches, and many families choose to spend the day relaxing in the sun (or rain!) here.
For animal lovers, Africa Alive Zoological Reserve in Whites Lane, Kessingland, is the perfect place to take a day trip.
Its set in 100 acres of countryside and, run by the Zoological Society of East Anglia who also run Banham Zoo, it has everything from giraffes and lions to owls and ostriches.
Pleasurewood Hills theme park, which offers more than 35 rides as well as shows and other attractions, is also a great option if you have children.
And for history lovers there are lots of destinations that may take your interest including the East Anglia Transport Museum, Lowestoft and East Suffolk Maritime Museum and Mincarlo Floating Maritime Museum.
Of course you could spend your day wandering around the town's many shops and seeing the sights. Don't forget to stop at Ness Point - the country's most eastern location.
